His Speculation is Predicated on a Major Presumption ...

Monique Chartier

... namely, the quality of his own presidency.

From the Telegraph (UK):

Standing in his cowboy boots on the back of a 1941 Ford pick-up truck in tiny Zebulon (population: 4,329), Bill Clinton bestowed on his wife Hillary what he perhaps considers the ultimate accolade. She would, he stated gallantly, be an even better president than he was.

When I look back on the Clinton Administration I have to remember fondly all of his initiatives that were passed.

Examples include:

And

And don't forget

The economy was what it was due to the internet bubble. And welfare reform was a Republican proposal.

What Clinton said basically is that vomiting is better than diarrhea

Joe,
Vomiting may or may not be better than diarrhea, but either one is preferable to George Bush and another Republican administration.

Hi!
Short of a minor miracle, it appears that Obama will be the Democratic nominee. The big question seems to be how the Democrats will heal their internal wounds for the Fall?
I think McCain has a real chance in November but it won't be a "slam dunk". I assume Obama and Clinton will NOT be on the Democratic ticket together. The biggest question is "What will she and her followers do for the national ticket"?

Scott

Prognosis for Clinton campaign: fatal.
Cause of demise: self-inflicted wounds.
The only remaining question: will the Clintons sabotage the Obama fall campaign with an eye toward '12?

As an Obamanaut Republican with absolutely NO chance of supporting the Just 100 more years ought to do it candidate, I think McCain is a longshot to win at best.

Bill Clinton only avoided impeachment and conviction through crooked politics --certainly not on the facts and the law. A strong case could be made that Bill Clinton was our worst President ever. So, Hillary might not have to do much to surpass his standing.

Not to take the Progressive side of this, CC but no matter how bad Bill was (and he was) he didn't send 4,000 boys to a dirtpile to get their faces shot off for no compelling reason.

GWB is EASILY the worst President ever.

OTL-I don't think McCain is a reprise of Bush.Bush junior wouldn't make a pimple on his rear end.I really hate the clinton machine and Obama won't be able to compete against the maniacs loose in today's world.McCain has looked evil in the face(although given his opponent maybe Obama has too)and survived. He does need to get neocon mama's boy Lieberman from around his neck.BTW if you have a good way to withdraw from Iraq without a replay of the SE Asia mass murder scenario please share it.I surely don't.
