And When I Ran

Justin Katz

Reflections the night of the Boston Marathon explosions.

And when I first learned my legs I ran to see how fast they could go
And when my friends called games I ran to laugh, to win, and (yes) to grow
And when my youth waned I ran to rule out paths that could not be mine
And when my children fell I ran to tell them (praying) they were fine

When I first saw the videos, I noticed that the fireballs were rather large. To me, this indicated low grade explosives. Recent news reports indicate an amateur effort with black powder and pressure cooker vessels. This seems to indicate "domestic terrorism". I don't see the Boston Marathon as a "political target". Who knows, About 10 years ago the "Earth Liberation Front" claimed credit for burning unfinished condos in Attleboro. I recall the initial report, but don't know if that was ever proven.

On second thought, it may have become difficult to smuggle bombs into the U.S. Black powder and pressure cookers are easily available. I don't know any "muzzle loaders" but I don't think the sale of black powder is regulated.

Cruising a Hot Rod site that I favor, I came across a very recent link to this article www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/10/12/mideast.jihadi.magazine/index.html

The link is to a Jihadist magazine with reference to pressure cooker bombs.
