Romney Rally Compare & Contrast

Justin Katz

This Twitter compare and contrast, from an Ohio Romney rally, is too stark not to mark with commentary. The first comes from AP reporter Steve Peoples, formerly a journalist on the political beat for the Providence Journal:

Next comes a picture from somebody in the audience (note that I've seen multiple similar pictures in my feed in the last half-hour or so:

Even with social media, it really is possible to live in your own world, if you want to. Of course, being behind the curtain in Rhode Island makes it a bit easier... at least on one side of the aisle.

Update: Here's a video snippet of that "low energy."

"Maybe it's the cold, but energy level low in Ohio"

Speak for yourself as an Obama supporter, Steve Peoples.

Sheesh! At what point do we start reclassifying certain reporters as "Fiction Writers"?

They are democrats with bylines.

Several reports today of an Obama event near Cleveland where he drew 4000... in '08 he drew 80,000 near Cleveland. Think O's intensity is up from '08???

Mitt Scissorhands RomneyCare said during the GOP primary debates that he favors shutting down the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), did Scissorhads mention his plan for FEMA at this rally?

What will Sammy do when the gravy train stops?

FEMA? You mean the people who needed 7 days to get water to New Orleans? They are a fairly recent invention, and we got along fairly well without them.

As for FEMA, Sandy and water:

"In fact, the agency appears to have been completely unprepared to distribute bottled water to Hurricane Sandy victims when the storm hit this Monday. In contrast to its stated policy, FEMA failed to have any meaningful supplies of bottled water -- or any other supplies, for that matter -- stored in nearby facilities as it had proclaimed it would on its website. This was the case despite several days advance warning of the impending storm.

FEMA only began to solicit bids for vendors to provide bottled water for distribution to Hurricane Sandy victims on Friday, sending out a solicitation request for 2.3 million gallons of bottled water at the FedBizOpps.gov website. Bidding closed at 4:30 pm eastern."

(I have never walked past a Salvation Army bell ringer).

Some survivalist/conspiracy theory folks are very concerned about "FEMA police"and concentration camps.I can only go by what I've seen, but FEMA would have trouble finding their own ass with two hands. The people who are worried might have some basis, but FEMA won't be doing the heavy lifting.

Steve Peoples was a crappy reporter with a lefty agenda when he worked for the Journal. He was better at making things up than reporting news. Nothing's changed.
