Flanders Out as Central Fall Receiver

Carroll Andrew Morse

According to Associated Press reporter Erika Niedowski, Robert Flanders has been replaced as Central Falls receiver...

The state-appointed receiver in Central Falls who has overseen the city's bankruptcy proceedings is being replaced in what the governor's office says is a "new phase" of its recovery.

John McJennett III is replacing Robert Flanders Jr. as of Friday. There will be a period of overlap.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee says Flanders has led the city through a challenging time and that Central Falls is now "stronger and more viable."

Whoa.

Would someone please explain why Flanders is out. Is this just another example of Chafee's bizarroland, or what? Like every other weekday (I didn't say workday), I assume Chafee woke up, had breakfast, got stoned, went to work, and then did something insane.

How do we stop the madness?

"why Flanders is out"

Perhaps to free him up to work on other assignments? I would want to put the guy with the most experience in the vanguard, let someone cheaper run the city that's already been put under control.

Flanders is out for one reason and one reason only: they are freeing him up so that he can take care of Woonsocket.

The Budget Commission met yesterday and it is rumored that one of the members said something along the lines of "they waited too long, we are too little too late".

As dopey as Chaffee is, he realizes he needs someone with brains and a back-bone (currently in short supply in Woonsocket) along with experience.

Is it possible to find out specific claims have been made against the past and current receiver of Central Falls?
