Unemployability of Illegal Alien Students - Rating the Blindingly Obvious

Monique Chartier

PolitiFact decided to rate the statement by RIILE's Terry Gorman that

When these [undocumented] students graduate from college, they're still illegal aliens. They cannot get a job.

They rate it a "True".

As they gave such a rating to someone with whom I agree on the underlying issue, I'm sorry to complain, really, I am. But why did they undertake to rate this statement? Under US law, Illegal aliens, whatever their age demographic, cannot work in the United States. Obtaining a degree of any sort does not change that.

Conversely, I do look forward to an analysis, in due course (it's a little early now), by PolitiFact or someone of the statement by freshly inaugurated Governor Lincoln Chafee as to the positive impact on economic development in Rhode Island of the rescinding of e-verify.

The idea that we're even talking about illegal aliens in US colleges proves how in the toilet the country is.

Yep, we are in the toilet financially, and the hot political topic of the week is gay marriage.

The relationship between Politifacts and the truth reminds me of the relationship betweeen Christianity and the Scolastics after they fell into meaningless and attenuated dialectics.

Actually, I suppose that Politicfacts search for the truth is more closely related to debate than dialectic.

Pay Tom Sgouros a few thousand bucks and he'll have a report for you about how giving illegals subsidized tuition will save the state money.

I'm confused. Aren't the ones who graduate college the ones we want to keep?

I honestly feel bad for the kid who was brought over as a young child, only to find out that they can't get 'in-state' tuition even though they've lived here for practically their whole lives. As far as I'm concerned, your eligibility for 'in-state' rates should be based solely on if you... you know... Live here.

I'd like to see something like DREAM passed as a way to offer SOME amnesty to the best, brightest, and hardest-working. Maybe beef it up a bit and you'd have a good bipartisan compromise.

The "Dream"Act is a bad idea.
I can guarantee if it became law,the first thing we'd hear is how families can't be broken up,so then we'd be stuck with the students' families also.
This crap the "advocates"peddle about how the students will file an affidavit that they will seek citizenship is science fiction-there is no such "pathway".
The answer is two sided-deny all benefits and jobs to illegal aliens(national e-Verify)and actively seek out criminal aliens for deportation.
Not rocket science.

Why do progressives think all these illegal aliens are coming to Rhode Island in the first place? Horrible weather. Sky-high unemployment. Regressive taxes. Depressed local economy. Shouldn't they all be headed to New Hampshire? No, they go where all the free benefits are and nobody will hassle them for breaking the law. It's really not that difficult to figure out.

Recently, I had an Indian couple as tenants. They were both software engineers. They had entered the country properly will all necessary visas. Although the husband had secured employment it proved almost impossible for the wife. After 2 1/2 years, she succeeded. No need to go into what is required to hire a foreign national who is going to "take a job aweay from an American". It is enough to daunt any prospective employer.

So, now we propose to aid in the education of "illegal aliens", who are of course "foreign nationals", so that they can competye with Americans for jobs.

I often wondered if that Indian couple would have been better off if they sneaked across the border.

Like a lot of other "not that difficult to figure out" things it becomes very difficult indeed if you are brainwashed Kool Aid guzzling progressive.
