Scions United

Marc Comtois

As has been reported (I saw it tweeted first by Ian Donnis), governor-elect Chafee has tabbed erstwhile liberal Democrat political insider--lobbyist, Chairman of the Board of NARAL--Richard Licht (h/t Ted Nesi for the link to Licht's bio) to head up the Department of Administration. The liberalness isn't a surprise, but lest we forget, there is a history between the Licht and Chafee families. As ProJo 7to7 reminds us:

Licht was lieutenant governor from 1984 to 1988, when he ran for Senate in 1988 against Chafee's father, John Chafee. He lost that year and ran again in 2000, losing in the Democratic primary. Lincoln Chafee, who had been appointed to fill his father's seat upon his death in 1999, won that year.

Licht's uncle, Frank Licht, unseated Chafee's father from the governor's office in 1968.

Chafee and his staff are characterizing this as "bipartisanship" because of the Democrat/Independent/Republican mashup. Yeah, right. It really isn't bipartisan when the scion of a long-time political family brings in a fellow scion of a long-time political family to help him run things. The only real differences Chafee and Licht were their party and some nuance and emphasis. Obviously, there was a lot they agreed upon over cocktails at the club.

As we discussed previously, Chafee's team will be a who's who of good old boy Dem/RINO insiders.
That Chafee ran as an "outsider" and was not challenged strongly on that point speaks to the impotent campaigns run by his opponents.
Political patronage and insider games has been a way of life for the Chafee's. Let's face it Linc has no real world job skills. He got his Senate gig as a patronage payoff from Sleepy Almond and he got his 36% from insider games with the unions.

Let's not forget Licht's work as attorney for Churchill & Banks. Could more "affordable housing, trumps local zoning" laws be far behind?

Elections have consequences.

I'd love to see "more affordable housing"right up there on the East Side with those liberal f**ks.Never happen.
Nor in Barrington.

Connect the dots:
Licht was on the Roger Williams Hospital Board & good friend of jailed Robert Urciuoli who is married to Donna Paolino sister of Joe Paolino. Chafee's wife was a nurse at Roger Williams Hospital and good friend of Urciuoli. Dr. Pablo Rodrigues Director of Planned Parenthood is on Chafee's transition team and Licht is NARAL Pro-Choice America Board Chair.

It all makes sense.

Think how nice it would be if these pro-abortion fanatics had been aborted.
Too bad it never works out that way-a turd like Licht figures "I got my life,f**k yours kid".And Rodriguez is only too happy to carry it out.
And Chafee admires them because he's too damn stupid to be either a doctor or a lawyer.
