Obligatory June 1 Horse-Race Post

Marc Comtois

It's June, the first day in fact, and there's a new poll out from Rasmussen (via ProJo) with a snapshot of the RI Governor's race. The scenario summary:

Lincoln Chafee (I) - 35%
Frank Caprio (D) - 32%
John Robitaille (R) - 25%
Undecided - 9%
= = = = = =
Frank Caprio (D) - 35%
Lincoln Chafee (I) - 33%
Victor Moffitt (R) - 22%
Undecided - 10%
= = = = = =
Lincoln Chafee (I) - 37%
John Robitaille (R) - 29%
Patrick Lynch (D) - 19%
Undecided - 15%
= = = = = =
Lincoln Chafee (I) - 35%
Victor Moffitt (R) - 28%
Patrick Lynch (D) - 24%
Undecided - 13%
= = = = = =

Moderate Party candidate Ken Block wasn't included in the poll. Doesn't look good for Lynch and it looks like it doesn't matter (too much) who runs for the GOP.

Will this be a Lynch eye test? Can he see that he cannot win?

Why is someone so incompetent still in this race?

Lynch is trailing Victor Moffit? Ouch.

I wonder what is next for Lynch after his inevitable loss. Perhaps he will have to get a job on his merits for once in his life instead of trading in on name recognition. Maybe one of the local high schools is hiring a basketball coach, since that's the only thing at which he has any talent.

I like what I see here. John Robitaille is gaining, thats all that matters to me.

Wonder where Unions will fall in this race if Lynch doesn't make it.

Looks like Unions are going after Caprio on pensions already.

Anybody know where this is from?

Hi!
More important is this to what extent will the GOP have a place "at the table" come next January and in the near future statewide?
The GOP may make gains in the Rhode Island General Assembly, but certainly will not win appreciably enough seats to likely influence it.
The real movers in the party should be recruiting a "stronger candidate" that the fine fellows in the race. It is late and fundraising should be a problem. I will support the GOP nominee.
Bob Tingle tells me he is running for Lt. Governor and he is a friend of mine, smart, well spoken, who should have at least I think been given a seat of the R.I. GOP State Central Committee which he was bypassed for in light of stepping up to the plate in past elections when others didn't!
Regards,
Scott

Unions will go all out for Loser Linc.
The state truly deserves him.
I hope he wins.
Bring on the deluge.

"Bob Tingle tells me he is running for Lt. Governor "

I wish the RIGOP would simply support Bob Healey for Lt. Governor. Anything else is self-serving.

John, John, John. He's going to "bring decisive leadership and backbone" to the state. Also, his own website calls him a "Profile in Courage".

Are you sure you want to pass all that up??

Lynch has to be a masochist to stay in this race.
Anyone who watched Linc Chafee on 10 Newsconference with Taricani and Rapplye
and still thinks he's competent to be in elective office needs their head examined. He sounded brain damaged.
I think Rhody likes him.What a surprise.

Hi!
There are two Republicans who want to run for Lt. Governor as I understand it: Bob Tingle and Kara Russo, probably best known politically as the companion of Chris Young who is running for Mayor of Providence as a Democrat possibly independent?. But I think as a Democrat?
Technically the Republicans legally cannot cross endorse a non Republican for office, so Healey cannot officially get the Republican line.
Regards,
Scott

Healy for Lt Gov. We need to eliminate that position
