"Just quit spending all the money."
Marc Comtois
In Utah (h/t), incumbent Republican Senator Bob Bennett is running in third place with a couple weeks to go before the Utah GOP winnows the field down to two candidates. The Utah GOP is dominated by members of--or those sympathetic to--the Tea Party movement and Bennett has come under fire for proposing that individuals be required to purchase health care and for supporting the bank bailouts.
"What is uniting everyone right now is fiscal conservatism, and I'm not even sure I like the term conservative. It's just responsibility. Just quit spending all the money," said David Kirkham, a co-founder of Utah's tea party movement. That's pretty much the basic uniting factor, isn't it?

2010, the year of antiimcumbentitis!
Posted by: Patrick at April 27, 2010 9:03 AMForget it, Jake, it's Utah. No Democrats to blame.
Posted by: rhody at April 27, 2010 2:09 PMIt seems as if simplistic thinking and talking points are the great uniter!
Now that we don't have GW to "uniter" us any longer, we have to find something in common, and it has to be just as shallow and idiotic as he was!
"Stop spending" is about at that level...especially when most tea partiers believe in actually expanding our debt (ask them about cutting the military......they want it bigger!)

In Utah, that means electing someone with only 6 wives as opposed to 20 or more.

Well said. When you've racked up spending that even your grandchildren won't be able to pay off (assuming for a minute you have the right to burden them that way), isn't that a major red flag that the spending is completely out of control?
Posted by: Monique at April 28, 2010 8:57 AMNo, Monique....
You don't understand.
Most people of true faith believe that the rapture is imminent. Even if one is of another popular conservative faith, that of Ayn Rand, one believes that debt is just something which our innovation and the peons will pay off sometime in the future - that is - SELFISH IS GOOD.
None of the existing conservative notions take the future into account - so why fake it? That's why conservatives are always on the side of more pollution, more war and all those other things which destroy quality of life.....in the name of money.
It's us - those on the left - who came up with that "7th generation" thing....so don't try to steal that one too.....
As it is, we know you are going to try to steal legalizing pot from us.......however, my memory is deep and wide and I remember the millions jailed for it and your hero Reagans War on Drugs.
