Caprio Confirms (But Doesn't Announce)
According to a Steve Peoples article in today's Projo, General Treasurer Frank Caprio is now officially a candidate for Rhode Island Governor…
Ending months of speculation, General Treasurer Frank T. Caprio on Monday confirmed that he intends to run for governor in 2010, joining a field of political heavyweights that already includes a former U.S. senator and the state attorney general……though his formal announcement won't come until next year…
His campaign will spend $100,000 this month to run political advertisements on every major television network beginning Tuesday.“This is preparation of a formal announcement during the first quarter of 2010,”
Listening to Carprio on Dan Yorke, he doesn't sound any more interested in fixing the state than Rory Smith. He certainly hasn't thought it through enough to be able to present any ideas. Instead, Caprio is going to ask-around and get some ideas, since he can't come up with any on his own.
Anybody really interested in fixing the state has already thought it trough and has a pretty good idea of what kinds of action are necessary to turn things around.
Sounds like Caprio, like Rory Smith, really, really wants to BE governor, but has no idea what he would do IF governor.
Wow! This is what the "conservative" side of the race looks like? We really are screwed.

I met him at the NP mem. day parade last summer and he shook every hand along the route and said hello while the other guys just walked by. He cares.
