Thank you for posting that. It's a poignant, well-written blog that tells the truth about people doing important, difficult work for our community.
Sure, there are some number of union schlubs who take advantage of the system for personal gain, but the vast majority of real professional EMTs and firefighters deserve every honor our community can offer.

As Monique knows, I am a firm disbeliever in institutional charity, but have to give credit where credit is due, and it is definately due at the Mcauley house. You can just feel the difference between there and Crossroads, where people are treated like cattle.
That just might get me in a little hot water, but what the heck, people should know.

In the '80's I lived on the corner of Atlantic and Niagra across from Mcauley House. That was one of the most wonderful,kindhearted group of people I have ever been blessed to know. We owned a home there.
I knew Father Ed,who made everything such fun and later,Sister Joan,God love you both!
Especially,thank you Sister Joan,I always think of you as an angel on earth. I wish that you could see this to thank you for the generosity and help to my beloved dogs.
I'll never forget you.
