Making Facilitators Pay for Illegal Immigration

Justin Katz

The story of the illegal immigrant in Florida who sustained heavy brain damage during a car accident is a tough one. On the one hand, we don't want a system that sweeps people who've been hurt under the rug because their immigration status is uncomfortable. On the other hand, making the hospital culpable for a lifetime of specialty care because it devoted $1.5 million to stabilize the injured man is plainly immoral and stands as a single example of one factor driving up costs that harm all Americans, especially when his family appears to have been content to leave him in the hospital.

Here's a crazy idea: Keep a national database of employers, landlords, and other folks who facilitate the continued presence of illegal immigrants — adjusted for the amount that they've benefited from that presence. Then, when cases like Luis Jimenez's arise, the bill could be divided among the parties on the list. If we could figure out a way to fairly place politicians on the list for their role in the broken system, the costs would be divided among a very significant number of payers.

No one who considers themselves a human would deny anybody emergency medical treatment.
What we cannot afford to do is provide government funded well care to illegal aliens.
Most people don't realize this, but legal aliens who are permanent residents must wait five years for government paid medical care if they otherwise qualify.

At last, I agree with Justin - his idea is indeed crazy.

What constitutes facilitating "the continued presence of illegal immigrants"? What formula would you apply to "adjust for the amount" of benefit "to employers, landlords, and other folks"? Who are the "other folks"? Would you include churches and other religious or social organizations who might provide food and shelter to homeless or destitute immigrants? Just how does one make "the list". How does one prevent "The List" from becoming a bizarro version of Schindler's List"? How do you adjust "for the amount that they've" (the employers and individuals so named) "benefited from that presence"?
Would you include politicians who stir up their constituents in order to gain or regain elected office as ones who have profited from the presence of illegal immigrants in their constituency? Indeed, if Justin's suggestion goes nation wide and he profits in some way from it, would we have Justin on this list as an illegal immigrant profiteer.

Now that our legislators are supposedly on the same track with E-Verify, it needs to be rigorously enforced? California--a Sanctuary State--will need exclusive attention along with other border states, because they have been occupied by millions of illegal immigrants, causing major damage to their economies. Once E-Verify is fully implemented on a permanent basis for all the working population, including all persons on a payroll? My suggestion is an army of federal inspectors of perhaps retired civil servants, senior citizens in their resident community, to make unexpected inspections on large and small businesses.

The inspectors will probably have to be armed with a general search warrant, but honorable business will hardly impose this restriction if they have nothing to hide? This will be a strict deterrent to parasite businesses, who will never be aware--WHEN THAT FEDERAL OFFICER--is going to turn up, to observe their workers? They will audit their books and check for irregularities in the workplace. This is happening in Italy and other countries, because of the importation of illegal foreign labor, has caused major concerns amongst the countries bona-fide workers. If Washington is really sincere about the10.5 jobless Americans, then we need to impose heavy penalties on those business that scorn the law. Another possibility is a reward system for informants, who have positive knowledge of companies that are scoffing at E-Verify, and committing the offense of hiring illegal aliens. Business are living off taxpayers taxes, because they don't convey health care to their illegal hires.

Get on the phone and tell your Representative, you support--THE SAVE ACT-- 202-224-3121 Believe it! Your voices are having the right effect.?Support for the bi-partisan SAVE Act, which will expand E-Verify and protect American jobs! We must focus on the key to this major problem-the jobs that attract illegal aliens. It would phase in a requirement for every employer to use the electronic verification system. We must also be aware that the Democrats are ready to open the gates to our nation, once a path to citizenship is announced. Search out the facts at NUMBERSUSA, AMERICANPATROL

Don't worry people. The O'bomber has it all figured out.

Have we forgotten the kid who came up here from South America and was discovered to have a heart problem, oh, shortly after he arrived so now we're paying for his new heart?

We will ALL pay for care for the illegal alien healthcare much like we are now except it'll be in the open and with a wave of his wand, illegal alien healthcare will now become legal.

This accident would have never happened if that ILLEGAL ALIEN had not been in this Country in the first place. Who pays? The American taxpayers, that's who.

I for one, am sick and tired of these ILLEGAL ALIENS snubbing their nose at our immigration laws and the many other laws of this Country. If our Federal Government can not ENFORCE our immigration laws, and get these ILLEGAL ALIENS out of this Country, then let the States do it! One way or another, an end has to come to this illegal immigration, and not with AMNESTY! Amnesty will only encourage more ILLEGAL ALIENS to invade our Country and reward those who broke our laws and raped the American taxpayer in many ways...depressing our wages, taking our jobs, overwhelming our schools with their ILLEGAL ALIEN children, driving without a license or car insurance, all the crime from stolen identities to rape, drugs and everything else.

It's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It's time for them get out of this Country and back in their own Country where they belong. When we get rid of the ILLEGAL ALIENS, we will get rid of all the problems that go with them. THAT IS A FACT!

AMNESTY = REVOLUTION

I agree with you 100% Delaware Bob!
But first we should send them to OldTimeLefty's house for a fairwell party.

Posted by: RiverFox at July 25, 2009 1:15 PM

A pox on Riverfox

Let me know when the party is scheduled at OldTimeLefty's. I would like to be there. Perhaps one of our newly arrived brothers or sisters could help the Riverfox spell farewell.

Posted by: Phil at July 25, 2009 3:56 PM

Yep Phil, my great spelling ability is do to the great education I got here in RI.
I'll let you no when the party is on and maybe one of you new brother or sisters will steal you handbag.

Posted by: RiverFox at July 26, 2009 8:54 AM

Hello RiverFox,
I was surprised to see my name in this thread since I had said nothing in it. But since you insist that I join in I'd like to set a few things straight with you. From Phil's previous entries and comments it is apparent that he, who corrected your spelling, is Rhode Island born, bred and educated. It seems as though some of us were paying attention in school and others were not. Ridiculous to blame our failings on others. The education is there if one wants it.

As to parties at my house with immigrant workers, there have been a few. Great food, wonderful culinary mix of tacos, egg rolls, kimchi, you name it. You should definitely come to the next one, but I must warn you most of the attendees are not white skinned. If you can take such a mix, you are welcome.

P.S. I teach English as a Second Language, and you could definitely profit by attending a few classes. I discuss homophones and try to explain the difference between words that sound alike but are spelled differently and that have different meanings, like "do" and "due". Come, join in, learn as much as an immigrant.

I would love to go to your party, can I bring a few of my Nam buddies with me?
You liberials are all alike, correct my spelling LMAO. When I talk to people face to face they get my meaning right away.
You and Phil want to help the illegals, YOU PAY FOR IT. I bet neither you or Phil have fought for our freedoms. You just enjoy it on the backs of those of us who have.

Riverfox,
I went into the US Army as a volunteer buck private came out as a SP5 after 3 years. I was in between Korea and Vietnam. I received a Top Secret Crypto clearance through both NSA and USASA and helped write the classified history of Army Security Agency operations world wide. I'm fairly certain that I have forgotten more about the history of the US military than you ever knew.

I was NCOIC when I received my honorable discharge. I also was awarded The Commendation Ribbon with Medal pendant for outstanding performance of duty while on active military service. So you lose your bet. I get a little tired of you self styled patriots who sieze the flag and run away with it, commandeering it for your own purposes. Rethink your assumptions and you might leave yourself room to grow out of your juvenile prejudices.

I left the Army with honorable discharge, combat vet E-5 NCO With a few matals. Was out for 10 years and went back in for 2 more years. My call sign in Nam was RiverFox.
I'll kept my juvenile prejudices.
All I know is we have to stop the flow of illegals. And I'll stick to it.
You lefties like to blur the line, they are illegals not immigrant workers.
I'm for legal immigrants.
As for the bet, you maybe telling the truth or you may not be.

Posted by: RiverFox at July 27, 2009 11:01 AM

Check out RA13627382, or with the local VA, then acknowledge that you lost your bet, if you are man enough. You'll just have to accept the fact that the draftee army called on lefties to fight and also to die.

It is much better that you keep your juvenile prejudices than to spread them around. If they caught on they might bring the Nazis back.

"I'm for legal immigrants."

Ditto.

Further, amnesty would be disrespectful of the efforts of those who came to this country in compliance with our laws.
