Tancredo in Pawtucket

Monique Chartier

Our coverage this time is courtesy of Joe Bernstein who, along with myself, was one of over a hundred in attendance at the event Wednesday night.

Joe walked right by me that night without saying "hi", not that I'm calling him a snob. But in his comments under Justin's post, Joe channelled and articulated my reaction to the substance of Tom Tancredo's remarks very well and has kindly agreed to let me post them. The balance of his comments, slightly edited, is left as color commentary of the event as a whole.

Crowley was easy to spot-he was the only protester who didn't look like he had just scrounged in a dumpster. I gave an appropriate comical gesture (non obscene) to his little camera, but I guess he chose not to display it because I was neither intimidated nor angry. It was amusing to watch this assemblage of feckless ****-ants trying to pass themselves off as the vanguard of the "revolution". There were about 100-120 attendees and maybe 30 or so protesters. They were all mostly empty headed young people or old {people} who looked like 60's protest retreads ...

The police did a good job of preventing vandalism to parked vehicles so beloved of these low*****. They were busy copying down our plate numbers, though. I'm terrified - eek!! They didn't chant the hey-hey, ho-ho garbage at least, so it was tolerable.

Tancredo was a good speaker and if he made any racist comments I must have missed that. I am no one's robot, so I may not be down with Tancredo 100%, but he certainly made a lot of valid points, and he really didn't seem to be driven by hate, but rather by love of country. The protesters sounded and looked pretty hateful. It must be tough for them getting up every and realizing what empty lives they lead, waiting for the next picketing event. ...

* * *

For what it's worth,Tancredo didn't even have a racist undertone to what he said. ...

Assimilationist thinking is quite anti-racist. The"multicultural" way of thinking which leads to an ethnic mosaic is a recipe for mutually hostile enclaves wiithin a larger society. Assimilation doesn't necessarily mean abandoning one's original culture, but it does require acceptance of the larger culture to some significant degree. Older immigrants may not be able to do this, but younger people (under 50) can and should for their own good and America's.

Maybe you want to belong to some world village. I don't. I will always believe in independent countries.

Comments

Sorry I didn't see you Monique-I've been called a slob,but never a snob :)).
It does speak to the number of people present.
Crowley tried to spin it so the public would believe their was a massive demonstration against a handful of bigots.
These wannabe socialists/commies/anarchists better hope this country never goes hardline communist/socialist because the scruffy "intellectuals"are always the first ones to be turned into mulch by the dictators. Those guys know that troublemakers never learn how to get with the program,so to speak.
I think the term used for our noisy, cruddy friends outside the VFW hall is "useful idiots".
Real communists like the North Koreans and the former North Vietnamese were tough, hardcore enemies of whoever threatened them.
The most insane communist nation on earth may have been Albania under Enver Hoxha. He'd have had these "protesters" exterminated in a New York minute.
Most of them are children of privilege who have been getting reinforced at institutions like Brown. It's a shame that they are wastng their lives following what I call the "cause of the week".

When did Providence College become a bastion of liberalism? I realize blaming Brown kids is more convenient (God forbid those good Catholic kids at PC stand up for anything other than what the bishop tells them to).

Rhody-having known both Brown profs and students,I can honestly that in some programs it is just a fancy indoctrination mill.
I was told directly in a private by a Brown professor who is now a department chairman that he considered it his duty to indoctrinate his students with his social/political philosophy.I completely disagreed with him and he couldn't understand why.

Holy Cow!!I just reread my first answer and it proves I've been reading too many of Crowley's blogposts."Their"for "there".
Homonym confusion might be contagious.

--Homonym confusion might be contagious.

Careful of using big words like that. Comrade Crowley will accuse you of being a bigoted homophobe.

Then you'll be prosecuted under the new hate crimes law.

Copying down license plates? Really?

100 people now is it? Wow, no wonder why you believe the tax cut for the elite baloney.

--Wow, no wonder why you believe the tax cut for the elite baloney.

"Elite" being those who work for a living instead of buying off politicians to feed off of others' labor.

No wonder Crowley is such a zealot for the parasitic class. It would be interesting to see who in the private sector would even consider hiring Crowley. What would be his "value proposition" to a potential employer? Blogging at all hours? Chip on his shoulder regarding everything? Philosophy that compensation should be divorced from performance?

Posted by: Ragin' Rhode Islander at May 2, 2009 12:03 PM

Those were the approximate numbers,Pat-there were 72 chairs taken and maybe 30-40 people standing.I estimated your group roughly-if you say there were 10 more,okay-but no way the protestors outnumbered the attendees.

Posted by: joe bernstein at May 2, 2009 5:07 PM

Pat, maybe you could have one of those high school rent-a-left show you the new math which uses the base 10 method of counting?

Why didn't the Olneyville association or the Progresso Latino show up? Maybe they realized it would be a waste of time and in this country, we all have the right to assemble and freedom of speech stuff? At least they showed some dignity

See, in this country, we have some rights and some privileges. Coming here without proper papers is a violation of a privilege and the rest who do things correctly have a right to make sure that illegals GET THE HELL OUT!

well, if you look at the pictures on Wee Willi Rici's FACEBOOK page, you can count less than 50 people in the room. Jeesh, don't you guys at least try to get your stories straight before you spin?

Posted by: Pat Crowley at May 2, 2009 8:19 PM

Who the f**k is "wee willi rici"?
You really are a pisser, but this isn't the Soviet Union YET,so the airbrushing routine they used on purge victims won't work here.

Posted by: joe bernstein at May 2, 2009 10:13 PM

I hate to say this Pat,but in the Soviet-style system, you'd be purged in the first wave-they don't like activists once they take power.
Just read about who they got rid of early on,and you'll see what I mean.
In our system, you can rant and rave all you want, and no one cares.
I am concerned that Obama is looking to curb free speech. It's already slipped out via Axelrod and a few other functionaries.

There were 72 chairs as Joe stated, it was standing room only. Since he can't count, maybe Mr. Crawley should go back to his NEA job. Hmn, I wonder if the rank and file of the Teacher's Union knows how their leadership spends his personal time intimidating older folk who showed up with his video camera in their faces or better yet how their union dues are being used to pay the salaries for them to fight AGAINST immigration law enforcement at the State House. Maybe it's time someone let them know about that.

Very mature of you, Pat. Are you 3 yrs. old now? Can anyone thing of something that rhymes with Pat? Thanks for taking an interest in my photography skills.

There were exactly 72 seats and all were filled. There were also people standing all along the walls. There were people to the left, right, in the small overflow room in the rear, as well as behind me when I was taking pictures, who I could not fit into the frame. There were also people in the small year in the rear of the building. There were at least a hundred at minimum.

Will-so it's you Pat was referring to.I wouldn't have known from the way he twisted your name.
I don't see anyone disputing the 300 or so number for the May Day demonstrators.I guess leftists have a problem dealing with facts which normal people don't.
Crowley ranting about ICE being forced to leave RI is comical.Fact is,when Napolitano gets done with her traitorous plans, you won't know ICE is here anyway.
Obama has chimed in now on workplace raids.I guess he thinks getting elected empowered him to change Federal laws as he sees fit. It's a sick world out there
when people think this crap is okay.
