Chafee Likely to Run for Governor

Marc Comtois

Ian Donnis has been admirably ferreting out hints for a while and now the ProJo has a story about it, so I suppose we should mention the likely entrance of former Senator Chafee into the Governor's race.

There.

My wife and I supported Chafee last time around in 2006 for U.S. Senate. We were really "valuable" until he won the Republican primary. Then we couldn't even get an e-mail or phone call returned. We thought the way he turned on us as supporters was bad enough. We really felt used! Then he dumped everybody in the Republican party who worked so hard to get try to get him elected too within months of losing the election. I know many of those people worked really hard! I think this speaks to a larger character flaw. People have value when they can be used and then they can be discarded once they no longer serve a purpose for the Chafee camp.

I think it's time to look forward to a new, fresh face to serve our state in the Governor's office. I can honestly say that I do not have any thoughts yet as to who that may be, but let's hope someone will step forward.

Many people on this blog told me last time that I was wrong for supporting Chafee and sadly I have to say that they were absolutely right! I am looking forward to getting involved in discussing these issues further over the next year +.

Greg,
Are yo the same Greg that put your name forward as a Republican town council candidate in Westerly in 2006 them as a Democrat in 2008?
Regards,
Scott

I can't wait until the blow-hard GOP candidate for Governor, who kissed Chafee's hiney in '06, has to face him in debates.

Talk about handing it to the Dems without a fight. Those two would make even Liz Roberts look, ugh!, ack!, hurl!...gubernatorial...heck, even like a MENSA candidate.

Linc Chafee="schlapschwanze"-look it up(it's German)-it's not a dirty word or anything.

Well, if either party had its act together, we wouldn't have to "panic" about a Chafee entry into the race, would we?

Scott,

No. I know who you are talking about though. Never met him. I don't get that involved in politics anyway, but before 2006 I always liked Linc's politics. As far as running for politics, I never have and probably never will!

Sorry!

Greg A. They call me Azzi in town.

Scott and Greg,

The fellow that Scott is refering to, the other Greg from, Westerly, not Greg in Westerly, died a few months ago from cancer. He had been sick for quite some time, so if he didn't run for office, that's probably why.

I did some volunteer work with him and his family. The obituary was in the Sun.

Could Scott or Bill or whatever his name is have jumped on the guy any faster. Turns out the guy he wanted to verbally attack is a dead guy. He isnt here to even defend himself. What a big man!

scott is hallucinating! I checked the state's web site, there was no Greg runing for town council or for that matter any other office in Westerly in 02, 04, 06 or 08. Looks like he was pulling some kind of fast one. Isnt it amazing how "big man" scott disappears when his post is found to be less than honest or legitimate. There should be a login to post here. Ive been saying that for years!
