Mayor David Cicilline Declares for Re-election

Monique Chartier

... in the following press release issued at 3:08 pm today.

Dear Friend,

You have been an active supporter of the important work we have taken on together, and I want you to be among the first to know about an important decision I have reached. In these particularly difficult economic times, I am more certain than ever that it is the right one. Today I am declaring my candidacy for reelection as Mayor of our great city.

We have achieved a great deal in the past six years -- maybe more than many of us expected -- but the job is not done and we are in the midst of a serious financial crisis. It is not a time to change focus. I hope you will take a few minutes to review the statement I recorded about my decision by clicking the link or image below. As always, thank you for your devotion to our important work on behalf of Providence.

Yeah, right there Davey and his wonderdog, Yessirreeman.

The only reason he's running for re-election is because he's like behind last place in the recent polls for a potential bid for Governor.

I don't care if I have to stand in front of City Hall with a sign displaying "Idiot for hire. Just vote yes or pull that Idiot's Master Lever."

What a d**chebag. And this pantywasted advocacy mayor will have something up on YouTube shortly from what I understand.

I can't wait, I just can't wait to comment.

Will Monique and her anchorites support Lil' David based on their mutual hatred of firefighters? We'll see..,

Posted by: jayzeeh at March 10, 2009 6:17 PM

Nah, I just hate jayzeeh. If he's a firefighter, so be it.

trolls...

Posted by: Patrick at March 10, 2009 6:34 PM

troll ? I may be. You Patrick are obviously an anchorite, a monique munchkin..,this blog losses much integrity by the hatred evident in many of your (collective) posts.

"Will Monique and her anchorites support Lil' David based on their mutual hatred of firefighters?"

Jayzeeh, just for you, I have brought forward my post of over a year ago about Mayor Cicilline and his "dispute" with the Providence firefighters.

Enjoy.

"You Patrick are obviously an anchorite, a monique munchkin..,"

Really?? So I control people and stuff?

Cool!

Posted by: Monique at March 10, 2009 8:04 PM

Patrick.

Hear me.

Go, tomorrow morning at 9:01 am, to your bank. Withdraw $9,900 in cash from your accounts.

Mail it to me, insured, at the PO box I give you.

Heed my words and obey, Patrick. Do not fail. The continuation of the continuum (or something) depends upon it ...

Posted by: Monique at March 10, 2009 8:11 PM

monique..,you almost had me convinced you were the good witch, with your new post and all..,however the evil comes through as you continue to manipulate your munchkin, Patrick. Go Patrick and watch out for evil teachers, cops and fire fighters.

Posted by: jayzeeh at March 10, 2009 8:26 PM

Don't forget plumbers, electricians, pipefitters, teamsters, airline attendants, auto manufacturers, journalists, and bloggers. Evil, every last one of them. Horrid, horrid people.

Monique, I asked and they said at your bank that I can put in the full $9,999 again. I didn't have to stop at $9,900. So I maxed out, hope you don't mind.

Is everybody mad because Dave just denied all the spectacle of seeing him lose an election, which would certainly have been the case had he run for governor?
Okay then, who else would be a credible candidate for mayor?

Posted by: rhody at March 11, 2009 12:42 AM

"Okay then, who else would be a credible candidate for mayor?"

Lincoln Chafee, who is now a Prov resident, most likely for the exact reason that he expected David to run for Gov and then Linc would have run for mayor. After all, that pesky Laffey caused him to have to eat one and a half Tums one night.

Gordon Fox. Likely? No, but he would certainly be a credible candidate, especially if Murphy is going to stick around beyond his self-imposed "term limit" or if Fox doesn't think he has the votes to ascend to Speaker.

John Lombardi. The man seemed almost "Alexander Haig-ian" in his glee to be in the mayor's chair after Buddy's removal.

Grace Diaz. Why not? She'd be credible.

John Igliozzi. It would depend on the rest of the field, but he could certainly be "credible".

David Segal. The kid clearly has higher aspirations. What better way to no longer just be another face in the crowd.

I'm sure there are others.

Posted by: Patrick at March 11, 2009 7:59 AM

Segal? He gets elected on the Brown University and "arts district" votes.
His base is too small.
Grace Diaz?LOL.Maybe if she learns English syntax she could get about 10 non-Latino votes.
Terry Hassett has shown interest. He has credibility as far as understanding the city's needs.
Ditto Igliozzi and Lombardi.
Linc Chafee- already proven more competent at a mayoral level than as Senator.Only problem-he might keep that miserable puke Esserman on the job.
