About That Shanley Bill...

Carroll Andrew Morse

It's about ten-past-eight and I am standing in line at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Cranston, preparing to cast my primary ballot for Hugh Cort.

I'd bet that the hundred or so people in the room with me would agree that the recent proposal submitted by State Rep. John Patrick Shanley to close Rhode Island's polls at 8 pm is a bad idea.

Pat Shanley submitted a bad bill?? The sponsor of the bill to unionize the day care workers? The rep who has yet to vote against a tax hike in the fourth highest taxed state? Surely there is some mistake.

Monique,
You are the designated pile-oner. One of your cronies says "Tax bad, Unions bad" and you provide the empty echo. Your comments add no substance.

Hi!
9 PM is late for closing time for an election anywhere. Connecticut closes at 8 PM but i think all or many open at 6 AM? Starting times vary in Rhode Island.
How's this: "Don't Stand Pat, Dump Shanley?" or is that too bad for a slogan?
Regards,
Scott
