Dems Showing Prudence?

Marc Comtois

If there's a Democrat elected President in 2008, will there be troops in Iraq in 2013?

"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation's first primary state.

"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"I cannot make that commitment," said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Oh, so you mean you'll gauge the situation at that time, examine the facts at hand, utilize your best judgment and then determine what is the most prudent path to follow?

Huh.

I guess your perspective can change when you might actually have to make the tough decisions instead of just second-guess them.

I bet the left-wing whack job blogosphere is still in full freak-out mode over their answers. I have to assume because since RIFuture went from ugly to ugly AND squished on one side I haven't visited.

Good point, Marc.

The statements and answers of the Democrat candidates on the question of Iraq - most egregiously, Hillary's - have been all over the map. See, that way, whatever happens, however they vote or whatever Executive Order they sign, they're covered.

"Oh, no, there is no contradiction here. This corresponds to my statement on [fill in the date]."
