Anthony Colaluca, Man Without a Party

Carroll Andrew Morse

I know it's possible to develop overly sensitive rabbit-ears over stuff like this, but it is interesting to note that when the reporters at the Projo mistakenly thought that Coventry Town Councilman Anthony Colaluca was a Republican, his party was mentioned in their coverage of his drunk-driving arrest.

But now, after the Projo's news department almost certainly has been informed that Councilman Colaluca is actually a Democrat, the follow-up item on a delay in his arraignment refrains from mentioning a party affiliation.

Comments

Perfectly understandable, given the context.

For a Republican to get nailed for drunk driving is newsworthy, for in general Republicans are responsible, law-abiding persons.

For a Democrat to get nailed for drunk driving isn't newsworthy because it's small potatoes in the context of typical Democrat politician behavior.

Ragin, must we resort to accurate statements ... er, ugly stereotyping?

Andrew,

Shouldn't the title be Anthony Colaluca, Man Without a Lawyer?
Check out the legal lightweight who's representing him. lol

Hey, Tim, if things don't go right for his client, he can always put someone's head through a window.

"Colaluca’s lawyer, state Rep. Timothy A. Williamson, requested the continuance to give him more time to study information provided by the Coventry police."

It was sloppy journalism. But that's what happens when out-of-state corporate ownership starts hacking jobs. Belo started pillaging the newsroom, and the number of noticable mistakes in the ProJo started rising.

Steve,

Yeah, Hsu are so right, er, I mean you are so right, there have been a few dirty Republicans over the years.

The real season for the delay was waiting for the right judge. Noonan is old pals with Tim willi and the Coventry TC laywer Sullivan..

The kid is now running for State Senate and his Lawn Sign Says "Real Change Starts Here"
