Toppling Old Men for a Single Word (It's a Bird! It's a Plane!)

Justin Katz

From a press statement put out by "Roger Williams University School of Law student organizers Matt Jerzyk, Majessire Smith and Kim Ahern" on the resolution of the Roger Williams University Papitto melodrama:

We are proud of every law school student and all of the faculty, alumni and donors who raised their voice against racism at our University. When a community comes together with one voice, they have the power to move mountains.

Yeah, move mountains... or devastate old men in the waning days of their distinguished service to the university. Pretty much the same thing. At least everybody got to parade around the classroom in hero costumes.

Justin,

Thank you for ignoring this outrageous story up until now. That was the right thing to do and I salute you for not giving forum to these creeps. I see where Matilda Jerzyk is so proud over her elder abuse of Mr Papitto. Typical liberal! The beauty of life is how the pendulum swings back and forth. Matilda and her ilk will get paid back in this life for their abuse of others all in the name of promoting their own agenda. Guaranteed!
FYI Justin on Matilda's blog she does not list Anchorrising under her RI blog listing as you do with her blog. You may want to reciprocate the snub.

a. AnchorRising is included in our blog roll.

b. I quoted an AnchorRising contributor, Andrew Morse, in my recent Phoenix story.

c. The activism around the Papitto racism was remarkable for a school more known for its conservative activism. It's a bright, new day for the law school!

d. Yes, I am sure your characterization of Mr. Papitto as a victim really fits with a man who vindictively punished whistle-blowers on his board. Such a victim!

CONGRATUALTIONS TO ALL PROGRESSIVES
You haven’t done a damn thing to:
Stop the war
Solve the looming social security crisis
Provide a national health care bill
End Bush’s openly fascist surveillance and Patriot Act abuses.
Find a solution to to the growth in the teachers pension payments (nearly tripled in 8 years to 25%+
Find or identify the magical, mysterious “funding stream” which is somehow going to pay for education costs and reduce the property tax.

BUT, you have:
Passed a Darfur resolution and
Taken the name of an octogenerian off a building.
WHOOOO-HOO
Matt-I dedicate to you this Cole Porter song:
Artist: Cole Porter Lyrics
Song: You’re The Top Lyrics
At words poetic, I’m so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting ‘em off my chest,
To let ‘em rest unexpressed,
I hate parading my serenading
As I’ll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty
At least it’ll tell you
How great you are.

You’re the top!
You’re the Coliseum.
You’re the top!
You’re the Louver Museum.
You’re a melody from a symphony by Strauss
You’re a Bendel bonnet,
A Shakespeare’s sonnet,
You’re Mickey Mouse.
You’re the Nile,
You’re the Tower of Pisa,
You’re the smile on the Mona Lisa
I’m a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop,
But if, baby, I’m the bottom you’re the top!

Your words poetic are not pathetic.
On the other hand, babe, you shine,
And I can feel after every line
A thrill divine
Down my spine.
Now gifted humans like Vincent Youmans
Might think that your song is bad,
But I got a notion
I’ll second the motion
And this is what I’m going to add;

You’re the top!
You’re Mahatma Gandhi.
You’re the top!
You’re Napoleon Brandy.
You’re the purple light
Of a summer night in Spain,
You’re the National Gallery
You’re Garbo’s salary,
You’re cellophane.
You’re sublime,
You’re turkey dinner,
You’re the time, the time of a Derby winner
I’m a toy balloon that’s fated soon to pop
But if, baby, I’m the bottom,
You’re the top!

You’re the top!
You’re an arrow collar
You’re the top!
You’re a Coolidge dollar,
You’re the nimble tread
Of the feet of Fred Astaire,
You’re an O’Neill drama,

You’re Whistler’s mama!

You’re camembert.

You’re a rose,
You’re Inferno’s Dante,

You’re the nose
On the great Durante.
I’m just in a way,
As the French would say, “de trop”.
But if, baby, I’m the bottom,
You’re the top!

You’re the top!
You’re a dance in Bali.
You’re the top!
You’re a hot tamale.
You’re an angel, you,
Simply too, too, too diveen,
You’re a Boticcelli,
You’re Keats,
You’re Shelly!

You’re Ovaltine!
You’re a boom,
You’re the dam at Boulder,
You’re the moon,
Over Mae West’s shoulder,
I’m the nominee of the G.O.P.

Or GOP!

But if, baby, I’m the bottom,
You’re the top!

You’re the top!
You’re a Waldorf salad.
You’re the top!
You’re a Berlin ballad.
You’re the boats that glide
On the sleepy Zuider Zee,
You’re an old Dutch master,

You’re Lady Astor,
You’re broccoli!
You’re romance,
You’re the steppes of Russia,
You’re the pants, on a Roxy usher,
I’m a broken doll, a fol-de-rol, a blop,

But if, baby, I’m the bottom,
You’re the top!

Here it is on youtube with the legendary Louise Brooks-

Justin,

The sudden appearance of Matilda on this blog only reinforces the excellent decision you made in not give her and her ilk forum to lie about and smear Mr. Papitto on this blog prior to today. The many readers of your blog thank you very much. The fresh air and lack of flies are greatly appreciated

Matilda,

Very poor manners not to thank me for pointing out your snub of anchorrising on your blogroll. A quick fix. I'm very very impressed honey. lol Now get on back to Fairyland where you belong. There must be more elderly people you can 'woody up' over. lol Such a losah!! Just watch out for that pendulum because it is coming for you Matilda. Just a matter of when.

Ditto what Tim said about not bringing this up sooner, Justin.

Everyone at AnchorRising should be clear, however. We do not approve of anyone who "goes off the reservation".

(... I'm directly quoting Matt J on the John Depetro Show a couple of days ago.)

Speaking of Matt Jerzyk on the radio, wasn't a question asked of Matt about giving the money ($$$millions$$$) Mr Papitto donated to the school back to Mr Papitto? Didn't he say the money shouldn't be given back?

I thought that extremely hypocritical of Matt Jerzyk as Mr Papitto's money is good enough to keep but his appology isn't good. Very hypocritical indeed, but typical!

If Papitto had quietly resigned after his unfortunate choice of words, this story would not have blown up to the point where it makes national cable news. It might never even have left the boardroom.
Unfortunately, dropping the N-word was only the second-worst act of the distinguished Mr. P. By refusing to yield the reins until the three objectors had been thrown off the board, he engaged in a gross act of arrogance that had to be brought to light.
I find myself actually agreeing with John DePetro for once in my life. While one N-word may not have been enough to justify erasing his name from the school, his assault on whistleblowers cannot be tolerated (or encouraged, as Dan Yorke and his amen chorus did today).

Rhody,

Ah yes the whistleblowers. Dr. Barbara Roberts a cardiologist and former heart doc to 80 yr old Mr. Papitto who has put his health in great jeopardy by first threatening to out him in the media over the N word and then doing it. Very ghoulish and unethical behavior from this physician. What was really the motivating factor in this horrendous behavior from this supposed doctor? The words 'self interest' and 'money' come to mind immediately.
Then we have Sally Lapides who proclaims this to be all about diversity at RWU. Shall we take a look at the diversity in Sally Lapides world as owner of Residential properties? lol Think we have yet another bigtime hypocrite on our hands.

There is so much more to this story but with our one sided liberal agenda driven media we'll never get to the truth. They got what they wanted cause he dun ben hanged.
Regarding John Depetro poor old Johnnie has gone soft and very PC since his Boston firing. Him cuddling up to the likes of Matilda Jerzyk says volumes about the limpwrist of John Depetro.
He's a mere shell of his former self and is losing listeners because of it.

Jake,

Matilda is a liberal and taking money from others under any circumstance it what liberals are all about. That's why Matilda doesn't want Mr. Papitto's racist and tainted money returned to him. We're not dealing with ethical or moral people here Jake as you've probably deduced by now.

Papitto's hand picked Board of Directors
16 people,all white.
Is there another University in the country with a all white Board?

Posted by: phil at July 19, 2007 9:53 AM

Tim, I won't argue with you about Sally Lapides' insider status. But funny, Ralphie didn't give a damn about that until she dared called him out on the N-word. If Ralphie Boy was such a stickler for ethics, why didn't he boot her off the board before?
As for Barbara Roberts, that's the same hooey Dan Yorke was trying to peddle last night. If either of us did something ethically beyond the pale, I don't think our personal physicians would just nod their heads and smile (if they had an ounce of integrity).
But if you want to go after her license because of some alleged violation of the hippocratic oath, or press felony wrongful death charges against her if Ralphie expires on his throne in the next week (at least he spared us the courtroom bed theatrics of Raymond Patriarca), just bring it.

Did you see "Right-Wing Hero" Alan Fung
at Wednesday NAACP news conferance, in regards to Ralph Papitto?

Posted by: phil at July 19, 2007 12:48 PM

Phil, if Fung has distanced himself from Laffey a little earlier, he'd be sitting in the mayor's chair right now.
