Lincoln Chafee is...

Marc Comtois

...Myrth York's kind of Republican, so she's endorsed him. Add her to the list of "Progressive" groups that have endorsed the Senator. Too little, too late? According the latest polls, it might be ('course, that is a link to Zogby...).

Comments

Gee, that endorsement doesn't help Linc at all, does it? She's a 3-time loser that won't win him any liberal voters but will turn off the conservatives. If he's Mirth's kind of Republican, he sure as Hell ain't my kind...

In other endorsement news, the terrorists have once again endorsed the Dems...

The endorsement is too little too late, but it's kind of fun to hear the Democratic good 'ol boys scream about how BETRAYED they were today! Funny, I haven't heard Chafee say a word about being betrayed by Republicans.
Carcieri fans, I hope you've told Sheldon "Thank you" at some point over the past four year.

Thank Whitehouse for what? Carcieri would have also beaten him in 2002.
If this 2006 Senate race were purely a contest between these two men, their likeability and trustworthiness with the general public Lincoln Chafee would KILL Sheldon Whitehouse in this race.
Whitehouse is not a likeable guy. Only thing that may save Whitehouse is how unpopular Bush is in Rhode Island.
Anyone believing the Zogby poll that puts Whitehouse up by 14 is crazy. This will be a 2 to 4 point race.

I was undecided, but that endorsement by Myrth Vader, as well as by Planned Parenthood and NARAL, finally pushed me into deciding to vote for Linc after all -- NOT!

I admit that it's been fun seeing all the Dems squirming around about Myrth's treachery, as if she's not a real Democrat or something. They don't like it when people have their own opinions -- "must do as the leadership says, must do as the leadership says." I guess she's just not liberal enough! Linc is a likable guy; Sheldon is a stiff. If anything pulls it off somehow for Chafee, it will be that.

I also agree that the Chafee/Whitehouse race will end up being very close. It's probably going to be a 51-49 or 48-52, but I'm not telling you who's going to win on Tuesday!

The opposite, Will: Myrth was too socially liberal for the Democratic good 'ol boys. When abortion and gay marriage take the floor, you know Murphy, Montalbano, etc. will be jumping right in bed with Carcieri.
All Carcieri or Almond had to do when she ran against them was complain she was too liberal, and the good 'ol boys abandoned her - you remember all those Democrats for Carcieri folks. Those were your Democratic leadership types. Myrth won the '02 primary on the strength of the Hispanic vote, and the Dem leadership has yet to invite Hispanics to the table.
That kind of "leadership" is why I no longer identify myself as a Democrat.
