Sheldon Whitehouse’s First TV Ads
The Sheldon Whitehouse campaign for US Senate has produced its first set of television ads. One advertisement lists a number of reasonably specific policy proposals…
- “Scrapping the failed Medicare prescription drug plan and replacing it with a simpler one that lowers costs”,
- “Repealing the Bush tax cuts for the Rich”,
- “Imposing a windfall profits tax on big oil”
- “Doubling our commitment to Pell Grants”,
- “Getting our troops out of Iraq by the end of this year”
- Make America energy independent
- Lower cost of healthcare
- Quality education
- Secure retirement
- Get out of Iraq
First question for Candidate Whitehouse, with regards to the second ad: With the exception of the fifth goal (“Get out of Iraq”), which of opponents does he believe is opposed to goals 1 through 4?
The same question could be posed regarding the first ad!
Posted by: Tom W at May 17, 2006 11:07 AMSheldon Whitebread's commercial redefines the meaning of the word "shallow." If that commercial had any less meat to it, you'd have to call it something else. I know what I'd call it, but I'm not repeating it in here...
Posted by: Will at May 17, 2006 1:48 PMI see on your page that one of the things Mr. Whitehouse is promising is to secure pensions. Mrs. Leca will be glad of that. You see her husband died in 1995, and she has yet to recieve his pension. You see she contatcted Mr. Whitehouse on this matter, and you would think that an Attorney General would find that haveing someone sign a document he or she cannot read or understand would be a no no. I wonder if this was Mr. Whitehouses' mother if there would not be a multi-million dollar lawsuit against TIAA Cref. The New York ATtorney General has assigned this a case number. In fairness Mr. Chaffee's office also know about this. at least they are investigating. Mr. Whitehouse did not even bother to respond. Very soon the candidates will make the rounds of the Elderly Housing in the State. Will Mr. Whitehouse promise to keep their pensions safe? Mrs. Leca is living with his concern.
Posted by: Frank Gomes at May 17, 2006 4:02 PMAs I suggested in comment last month, now that Brown is out of the race, Whitehouse will spend most of his money trying to build his positives rather than trying to attack Chafee.
He does a good job--invoking the name of Claiborne Pell, attacking Bush in a state where his approval levels are low and setting up the stage to link the eventual GOP nominee to Bush.
